Let A, B, and C be the original number of candies that each girl has.

Then (A - 5) + (B + 5) + (C - 4) = 2A

A + B + C- 4 = 2A

B + C - 4 =A where A is the original number of candies that Allyson had,

but now she has A-5 so B + C - 4 - 5 = A - 5 = B + C - 9
